Recommended System requirements?

Hey guys,

First of all, i must say that, after playing the latest version of SSF 2 Beta, i realized that it's a really impressive fan made game, with amazing graphics and sound effects, and a very clean presentation, so all the cheers and kudos to the dedicated devs who are behind this game.

The game is playable on my very old laptop with Windows 10, but after 10 or so matches, the game struggles to keep steady FPS, even with all the graphics settings disabled or set to minimum

But, i'm wondering, what are the recommended system requirements to play this game on a steady +30 FPS?

Best regards

It works quite well on my cute toaster (also W10, not modified yet), but then again I don't know if it will work for yours.
It's kinda high quality as well so try that too.

He said system requirements, not quality settings. Like the recommended processor speed and amount of RAM.
Anyway, I've been wondering this as well. What are the system specs to run the game at a consistent 30, both when quality's on min and especially on max?

I've heard it suggested that if you have a good PC, you can test it fairly easily on virtual machines, because you can manually set the configuration on those.

I'll have to see what I can do later.

I'm actually autistic, and I don't appreciate that little joke very much. :yoshi:

Either way, first step is to see the oldest operating system it will run on.
Then, adjust the RAM bit by bit until it fails to run.
Then, adjust the processing power bit by bit until it fails to run.

I'm going to try it on a Windows XP, 2000, and 98 VM. And if somehow it even runs on 98, I'll try 95 and 3.1 as well.
The idea with testing for system requirements is going to extremes.

I have an XP/Vista* and Beta runs fine on it, it is a really bad computer. Basically a potato, but I can run it online with medium-high settings on no-little lag, runs even better when using lower quality. If it has more than enough space for Beta, it will probably run.

BUT ALSO, your computer keeps slowing down because it is a bug with Beta, the longer the game is open, the more it will slow down, on any computer. So after every 3-6 matches, you should close the game, and re-open it the bring your speed back up.

My Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium, 2007.
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU 1.80 GHz
RAM: 2.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System

Told you it was a potato.

*(TLDR) Originally XP but then I got Civ3 and it :fox: ed up the color system and now everything says Vista instead of XP but it's still technically an XP, it's weird man.

Host System
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Processor: AMD FX-6300 6-Core Processor 3.50 GHz
RAM: 16GB

VM TEST 1:
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3 (32-bit)
Execution Cap: 100% (Full power)
RAM: 512MB (Video memory: 32MB)
RESULTS:
Settings: Maximum
-Event 1 benchmark: 30 FPS
-Event 21 benchmark: 29.4 FPS
Notes: Noticeable stuttering at points.

VM TEST 2:
OS: Windows 2000 Professional SP4 (32-bit)
Execution Cap: 100% (Full power)
RAM: 512MB (Video memory: 32MB)
RESULTS:
Fails to start.
Error messages:
"The procedure entry point GetSystemWow64DirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.".
"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found. Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair , or contact the application author for an updated version."
Attempting to download and install Adobe AIR 16 (Last version that supports W2000).
Installation successful, but same error messages appear.
Conclusion: Windows XP is the minimum operating system required to run SSF2 Beta.

VM TEST 3:
Windows XP
Video Memory reduced to 16MB. Other settings identical to Test 1.
RESULTS:
Settings: Maximum
Event 1 benchmark: 29FPS (But I know it's a false record; performance is noticeably sluggish.)
Event 21 benchmark: 29.9FPS (Again, no way this is true.)
Conclusion: 32MB of video memory is reccommended, but not required.

The following two tests reduce the RAM. Other settings match Test 1.

TEST 4: 128 MB RAM. Success, but loading noticeably slows down.
TEST 5: 64 MB RAM. Game boots, but loading slows down considerably and stuttering is constant, with "Not Responding" alerts appearing more than once. Runs, but nigh-unplayable.
Conclusion: A minimum of 128 MB RAM is required to play SSF2 Beta.

VM Test 6:
Execution cap reduced to 50% (1.75GHz). Other settings match Test 1.
Event 2 Benchmark: 22FPS (Probably should have done Event 1 again, but whoops.)

VM Test 7:
Execution cap reduced to 30% (1.05 GHz); VirtualBox is yelling at me at this point that I've set it too low. Other settings match Test 1.
Event 1 Benchmark on Maximum: 24.3FPS
Event 1 Benchmark on Medium: 25.9FPS

I could probably do more intensive tests, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing past this point.

You'll want more RAM than 128MB as the game caches files as more matches are played.

1GB RAM should be the absolute minimum but I would recommend 2GB.
Also note that processor doesn't matter - this will run on anything that runs x86/x64 Windows XP or higher, BUT the big caveat is that since it uses ONE core, you'll want a processor that has powerful cores rather than tons of weaker cores. Overall Intel would be better than AMD, especially at low prices.

Do you guys think this can handle SSF2 at min settings items on four people? Ram looks good but it's the processor I'm worried about.

Specs
* Intel Core™ m3-7Y30
* lntel HD Graphics 615
* 6 inches H-IPS Technology
* 8GB Memory

m3 is like an i3 u series (u = undervolted; low performance for low battery usage) that uses even less power basically. it probably will drop frames in a ffa.

I've been taking this out me with during the day. Got it for 70$, but you can find it for even cheaper. Can play SSF2 at 30fps at the lowest settings, but 100% playable.

Intel Atom x5-Z8300 Quad-Core Processor 1.44 / 1.84 GHz;
Intel HD Graphics with shared graphics memory
2GB DDR3L-RS 1333 MHz Memory,
32GB eMMC SSD storage / 128GB max micro-SD

I can almost play Melee throught Dolphin on this as well. Can get 45-47 fps in game, and working on optimizing for more.

Wow, im amazed by how something so low budget and so small can run SSF2. I'm currently trying to find something to take SSF2 on the go with. have you tested 4 players items on?

I've definitely had slowdown with more than 2 players in SSF2. I just wanted something small to take on the go to practice 1v1 on downtime. I think you need something a bit stronger if you want to small device to achieve 4 players. You can play 4-player Rivals of Aether on this device.
