Pokemon Trainer is the protagonist of the first game and essentially represents all the protagonists throughout all the games. Lucario is that psychic Pokemon who happened to be popular when the game was made. If anything we'd end up with Mewtwo again now.

Sakurai could be looking at the character reveals the same as the Subspace subject he talked about. It wouldn't be much of a surprise anymore because the internet spoils everything. So why bother keeping them secret. Thats what I'm thinking anyway.

They didn't announce the hidden characters until the game was already out and the characters' identities were widely known already. They were also hidden on the dojo and gave you a warning so you didn't spoil yourself accidentally.

I'm on the fence. I feel like unlocking new characters in fighting games is one of the most exciting parts of the game, and I hate it when games don't have any secret characters. However, I agree that not having the whole roster available from the getgo can be annoying The only solution is a temporary "unlock all characters" cheat code that only lasts until you turn the game off

I personally think its unlikely. The original smash bros had characters from the 1rst gen, and melee added a character from 2nd gen. (Pichu) In SSBB, They skipped the 3rd gen character and removed pichu, so it seems they will add a character from 6th gen. (Mew Two + Mega-evolution) or Lucario for the same reasons. Zoroark is a overrated choice without a good reason imo.

...It had its own movie like Lucario did, was an Event Pokemon originally, and is the only Pokemon of N's that you obtain without memory linking. It's almost safe to say Zorua is the little mascot of Gen 5.
