Triple Triad then refine cards!

You think that's gamebreaking in 8?

Learn card mod. Get Diablos. Use card mod to grind mobs without getting exp. learn encounter-none. Go triple triad'ing. One-hit final boss because everything scales to your level.

I'm doing that now :DD. I have to use a s*** of breaks though for human characters though. Does it still count when I use temporary characters to level up GF's??

You know what? I'M really getting sick of this hating on the sadder characters. You ever been around someone suffering from depression? A lot of them never get over that with a life of NORMAL problems, and you expect me to buy that a guy whose family and home were burned to the ground by his childhood hero and later got his best friend and girlfriend murdered by the same guy while the whole planet is dying around his and nearly everything is trying to kill him.

Pele sink into depression every day because their parents don't seem like they love them or they take some bullying from their peers.

I dont mind if the character is sad or optimistic as long as it is done right.

Cloud had good reasons for his behaviour and Zidanes optimism contrasts IX's rather "dark" and sad story quite nicely.

Actually I'm with Death'saWoopingRiot on this one. I mean with Squall I get that he might just be antisocial by nature, I don't see him as emo at all. Hell, I act the same way he does most the time and the only real problem in my life is just that I can't visually see the girl I love.

And then there's Cloud. I'm sorry, but there's a reason why I HATE Zack for choosing that guy to be his legacy. I get that the circumstances are tough, but in truth everything is circumstantial. Cloud was shown having more emotion for Tifa as is, his fanboyism for Sephiroth was a biproduct of his disk 1 case of misidentity, and Niblehiem (I will never be able to spell that) burning down was all fine and dandy before you take into account that he willingly left it behind him in the first place.

Therefor: Cloud had almost zero character development, and his overall likability actually goes down as the game progresses. The absolute best moment with him is during the initial sequence in Midgar, and all of that is relatively pointless out side of introducing the game.

Questions?

Yeah. Did you actually say anything of value in there? I don't see where you get "zero character development" from. Also, Squall wasn't antisocial by nature, it's because he was abandoned by his "sister" at a young age that he became so withdrawn, for fear of starting to care for the people around him and losing them again.

Knocked out =/= death. Getting shot in the face won't kill during battle, but dear god watch out during cutscenes.

I just explained where I see zero character development.

And also, you say that he's not antisocial by nature, and then explain where he gets his antisocial nature. Anyone else see a contridiction?

Squall at least has a realistic reason for being the way he is. Imo, that makes for the best character, especially for those who has gone through things like that too (not me), they'd be able to relate (in some way).

I liked Zidanes personality it mirrors mine in alot of ways.
Vivi had the worst personality on the planet along with Amarant.

Zidane is pretty awesome.
Vivi was cool, his personality made sense imo.
Amarant was kind of a douche.

I don't really see the zero character development thing you are talking about, no. Heck, I'm not even sure what you're going for by saying he "willingly left Nibelheim behind him", would you care to explain further?

Also, how in the blazes do you equate being traumatized at a young age by "it's just how he is"? I'm not a very social person, I can spend long amounts of time without any need for contact with another human being. That's just my nature. But if you're an outgoing or social person, and you experience a traumatizing event that ends up making you throw up walls around you and no longer allowing people to get close to you, that's not your nature. And that's what happened to Squall. Heck, a third of the way into the game his ACTUAL nature starts to reinstate himself, when he starts caring for the students of Balamb and his teammates.

With the "Willingly left Nibleheim behind him" part, I'm referencing his flashback very early in the game where he was telling Tifa that he's leaving everything behind to join SOLDIER.

Also, I was almost at the end of the third disk before my PSP broke and I didn't notice a large change of behavior with Squall. If anything I saw him grow into his leader position, not become any more social. No, he was still antisocial to all hell where I left off, he was just getting used to the fact that he had to be a leader for everyone. Besides, your assuming a traumatizing event can't change someone's nature, which I've seen that it sure as hell can.
