Quick ballot predictions:

Wolf - Most wanted and most likely veteran to come back.
Other veteran - Most likely Pichu/Squirtle/Ivysaur/Young Link.
(I think Snake was agreed not to return and the Icies would need to be Wii U exclusive)

K. Rool - Most likely has won the ballot.
Shantae - Creator was dropping big hints about Shantae's inclusion before the ballot.
Isaac - Demand has been high, plus he isn't an assist trophy.
Inklings - Splatoon is popular, these will probably by added at some point.
Shovel Knight - Long shot, but he has an amiibo and he's popular. Maybe (?)

I hope they release the results of the poll. I feel like K. Rool is going to be significantly lower than people think.

I sincerly wonder why people think Shantae stands even a ghost of a chance.

As for K. Rool, I reckon he might fall under the 'Isaac' category, where a character is really popular on the internet, but not the outside world. Though I supose the internet people would actually care more about the Ballot.

I haven't played Shovel knight or Shantae so my vote was purely based on design looks

Really really hoping we get the results some day though. I know they won't release them right after it closes for obvious reasons, but I'd love to see some honest to god statistics on what characters are the most popular.

I voted for Snake, and my siblings voted for Sora and Hawlucha.

Sadly as much as I'd like to see all three of these guys in smash(especially Snake), I don't think its gonna happen. Hawlucha would be fun, and is probably the most popular pokemon from the X&Y games, but if Sora ever got added, I'd fear the SSF2 devs would make changes to Sora to better fit his smash counterpart(which seems to be the case with most of the smash newcomers nowadays).

I'd like to see a poll with only the top 20 because there's a lot of characters people vote that either doesn't have any chances or shrek. Then make the same thing with the top 10, then top 5 and finally top 3.

I kinda have a knee-jerk no reaction to anyone thinking Shovel Knight has a chance, considering he's barely a year old and not even exclusive to Nintendo. Hell, prior to the announcement of the Amiibo, he had console-exclusive content for just about everything but Nintendo.

Wasn't he a 3DS game originally?
