And the fact that Square Enix wouldn't even let Nintendo use "Super Mario RPG 2" for a title helps prove my point. Mallow is in the same boat hence why we haven't seen him since that game and why Geno only got that one, tiny cameo in Mario and Luigi SuperStar Sagas.

I could actually see that happening. Mini Mario's and Mini Donkey Kongs attacking other players...with the occasionally Mini Peach.
