alright, so, I plug in my headphones, I play something and it plays through my speakers, though very muddy and low quality, I unplug my headphones and it plays through my speakers normally, it's not the headphones, I've used them on my iPod just fine and still can, all other headphones don't work on the laptop, either, however sometimes it actually works just fine and there is no way to know when it will work, the drivers are updated, I'm on windows 7 64 bit, the jack appears to work as the headphones do work sometimes
anyway I could possibly fix it?

Before you assume it's a hardware problem, check your speaker and playback settings on your PC.

So go with Monks on this. You should get a professional tech guy and pay $20 to fix up a headphone jack.
Lol, Google is your friend mang.

Nick, you're best getting it checked out. Maybe the guy could do it for free pr if you dont feel like spending 20 bucks he could give you a diagnosis so you could do it yourself.
Shut up krazeh.

if the headphone jack was broken, it would not pick up that my headphones are inside the computer, that's the whole point of a jack, to register that the peripheral is connected to the computer
