Personally, I think Minecraft can be enjoyable, but only, and if only, you have friends to play it with. Granted, you can say that about almost any game, so it's nothing special.


Single player, though? Hah, the game's terrible. Sure, you can build a town or something, and defend it from monsters, whatever. It's still a horribly dull process collecting the resources for that. Before anybody says "creative mode", like Kyuubit said, you can do the same thing with Legos. Heck, Legos have far more varied pieces and functions, just look at the Mindstorm sets.


Also, graphically, even if the game wasn't an Infiniminer rip-off, blocks for simplified building makes sense. However, the textures are horribly ugly, and despite the fact that you can upgrade them with community-made texture packs, they often don't cover everything.

I really can't understand why the game is so popular, especially when most people I know who play it play it for the singleplayer.

You're kinda contradicting yourself, unless you're just glad that I explained what I don't like about the game. I flat out said that the singleplayer is terrible, and multiplayer is fun because playing games with friends in general is fun. Friends can make a bad game fun, honestly. Let it be through laughing at the quality of a game, or multiplayer possibly breathing life into a game. I personally feel that MC belongs in the latter category- albeit the fun I've had with friends is just joking around.


Anyways, plenty of people enjoy the Call of Duty franchise. Do I personally enjoy it? No. Do I feel that the Call of Duty series is full of bad games? Absolutely. I find them to be the few games that can't be revived with friends, at least from my experience.

Just because people play something, it doesn't make it good.

I don't like single player either I doubt most people play minecraft for the single player.
Most people I know actually play it for that, and consider it to be wonderful.
I'm just tired of people comparing minecraft to Legos / Roblox cause it's not.
I actually used to be in that melting pot of retardation, and yeah, it's nothing like it. As for the Lego comparison, if you want to build a castle or a fort and show it off, and that's all you play MC for, you can do that with Legos, too.
And saying that all you do is build towers is false. Minecraft was originally planned out to be a mining game, not a building one.

I only play minecraft for multiplayer. I like the maximum about of interaction with other players.
Perfectly understandable.
Instead of most games where there's a strict amount of rules to follow. Instead of being unable to go to certain paces in most games, in Minecraft there's free roam and free build. You get to do almost anything. That sandbox feel of the game is the reason why most people play the game.
Again, perfectly understandable, albeit I feel that without an end, it becomes easy to get bored by a game after so long.
