Hold on now

No matter how much you dislike the game, you can't honestly say that all 19 (21) games that make up the roster are bad. Some are, but there are some fantastic characters on there.

That said, I'm really disappointed that Abe was cut. Or that anyone was cut, rather. It's a huge shame that Superbot has had to deal with so much s*** throughout their small career. A sequel ironing out the kinks could've made this such a fantastic game, but I suppose that's probably not coming now, huh?

Damn shame.

Abe wasn't cut, he just was never confirmed. I don't even know why folks want him in the game, the entire selling point of Abe's Oddysee was that he had no way of protecting himself from his enemies.

Now, who I wanna see is the Prince of the Cosmos.

But they aren't (mostly)

They didn't get the biggest & most important ones unfortunately but that doesn't change the fact that a majority of the roster is just fine

I am not defending donte

Anyone who legitimately tries to claim Kratos is a bad choice for a specifically Playstation-based fighting game is just being stupid. Same goes for Sackboy, Ratchet, mothercensoring Ape Escape... the only real off-notes in the roster are probably Big Daddy and the two promotional characters Whyden and Don'te. And they're still good characters.

I'm actually pretty content with Playstation's design to break away from Superbot. I wasn't really a fan of their employers, their way of working and the fact that they had all their content leaked before release.

Playstation All Stars left a lot of points a possible sequal could pick up on and improve on, I hope they take that into consideration in a few years from now, and that said possible sequal is handled by a more seasoned developer like Naughty Dog.

I would prefer if this poor attempt of siphoning the hype of an expected nintendo game were to sink into obscurity, personally. It was a swing and a miss. They should try to build something different from the ground up, I think.

Claiming this game as an inferior Smash clone is way to easy thinking. The game had a fun concept to base gameplay around, but it didn't make the most of it. The game laid a solid foundation for a 'series', in that it provided a lot of points where it could improve upon. The game has potentional to be better.

I think the game would've been a lot better had it been handled by an expierenced developer. The decision to give such a huge game to a new team that never worked together before was a major mistake on sony's side.

Not really. Superbot Entertainment was actually a good company for a game like this.

If we were to hand it to Santa Monica or another experienced studio, then the concept of having the gameplay focused around supers would be gone and would've made it much worse of a Smash Brothers clone.

It only had 3 problems
-The entire game was leaked... Literally. Every content from top to bottom without any surprises

-Most of the characters were based more to the likes of PS3 fans. There were only a small handful of old-school playstation characters (Ratchet/Clank, Jak/Daxter, Sir Daniel, PaRappa, Sly Cooper, Spike, etc). 4 spots were slapped with modern multi-platform characters to accommodate a modern feel to the game and/or for advertising their latest games. I mean Big Daddy was cool and all but when in the heck did we ask for the new reboot Dante and Raiden?

Also, what is with two spots filled for different variations of Cole? I understand the story behind it but a switch system between Good/Evil would've been much nicer and would've given Cole some pretty strong variation (being the first character to have two different level 2 supers and two different level 3 supers). You could have created a good/evil system that if you played an offensive melee game, you would've transformed into Evil Cole (Which would've paid off in the level 2 and level 3 supers of Evil Cole). If you went more into a defensive/hit-and-run game or a projectile game, you would've transformed into Good Cole (Which would've paid off in the level 2 and level 3 supers of Good Cole). Just a stupid idea i had in mind...

-Everything else other than the game itself. Bland Menus, Generic Arcade mode with unworthy intros and endings, Plenty of poor Trials, No Unlocks worth grinding for... This game had nothing to compliment it's gameplay. The Unlocks are worthless: Intros can be easily ignored with the tap of a button by any player, Outros are recycled/poor animations, Taunts leave you completely open and punished as always, Minions barely show up except when you kill all your opponents at the same time and Icons/Backgrounds have no purpose other than to show off how much you've been grinding in the game.

It's like cracking into a regular box with terrible stickers slapped on it only to take out a solid game. That's what Playstation All Stars Batte Royale is... Just a solid game with no worthwhile unlocks

My opinions... Agree or disagree if you feel like

There's still some worthwhile pieces into the game. First off, if you ignored everything for the gameplay itself: It is actually pretty fun and paced. While the roster have some choices that aren't as what we expected, i still feel fine playing with characters like DmC dante and Raiden from time to time, even though i still question these roster choices. The stages/hazards are very cool and it's nice to see a mix of playstation franchises into one stage.

It keeps most of the overall origins/movesets into each character nicely (Except for Sweet Tooth. I was hoping he would use some nice weapons like fire, power, mortar, and such from the actual Twisted Metal Games). The level 3 supers are fun and they make you feel accomplished when you get to that level and execute like you would grab a smash ball in Smash Brothers Brawl and execute that Final Smash just at that right time.

Yes that what i said pretty much almost makes up the entire game being a problem to begin with in the first place but if you give the game a few tries: You'll see how the gameplay itself is fun for a couple of rounds both locally and online. I hate what it delivers outside of the gameplay but i enjoy what is the actual gameplay.

Dial M for Mediocre

Although really, a game shouldn't be judged because it's a clone of another game, it should be judged on what's in there, and really, this game looks average on both counts. Not the worst game ever, not the best game ever, just average.

I agree with Steven's post. The game is far from flawless, but it set up the foundation for the game that could've been flawless.

It's a shame that game will probably never happen.

I don't think it was set up to be flawless at all. Not even considering smash, the foundation of the gameplay is what turns me off. Not only is a button masher to gain little stars to build a super bar a very strange and tedious idea, but being able to only kill with those tedious supers was, i feel, a strange choice. I feel like adding even a stamina bar to characters to make their normal moves a little less useless would have benefitted the game and took the focus slightly off the supers. Because then you have options. If you miss with a super that you built up you dont have to start from square one, etc. I try to play it very casually but even then the issues keep me from enjoying it.

There are lots of other problems that I have personally with the game, but they've all probably been said before.
