What we know:
-2015 release date
-PS3/PS4/360/Xbox One/Wii U/Mobile
-Guitar now uses two rows of three buttons each
-GH Live mode: Uses a pre-recorded FMV background, which changes based on how well or poorly you're performing
-GHTV: A "music video channel" where you play the songs along to music videos, apparently live with other players. Not a lot of details about this are out there yet. Activision claims "hundreds" of videos will be available.
-45 songs on disc (GHLive), 200 at a time in rotation on GHTV
-Open guitar notes exist, meaning there are technically 7 notes possible in the game, making it more complex than the original game
-Difficulty names are now Rookie/Regular/Advanced/Veteran, because we've moved into a new goddamn era that's why

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this. None of the footage so far seems to be on expert, which makes it meaningless to me. Setlist doesn't seem especially strong, but the GHTV feature seems really interesting.

anyway my Actual Thoughts™ are that the FMV thing seems kinda neat and immersive but the new guitar seems kinda dumb

I'll wait until I actually get to try it to have a strong opinion but I'd rather they just stick with what worked before. At least Rock Band 4 is there if it sucks.

I'm also glad they're not trying to go for a REEL GEETAR game when Rocksmith already has that completely covered

Yeah, I agree with all those entirely.

Updated the OP with a couple of full, unedited song videos. These are on this game's equivalent of Medium difficulty unfortunately, but they give you a good taste of how the game goes, especially the Fall Out Boy one.

The new guitar is probably going to be really weird at first but I imagine it'll probably end up being easier since you don't have to shift your hand at all. I give them props for trying something different though. First person perspective actually sounds sorta neat, but I hope they keep it interesting and not just watching a crowd bounce for 5 minutes. Setlist looks gross.

Disgusting. They've used that same Killers song like 3 times now, and it's one of the most boring songs in the series.

I agree that these songs are entirely uninspiring though. Alter Bridge is the only one I'm digging. Poor MCR pick too

Also I think it'll be more difficult at high levels. Two more possible inputs. Moving down the fretboard in the old ones is nothing at all so

Idunno. I just really want to try the thing. I can't really claim to be excited right now though, even despite how rad GHTV looks

Under the Pressure is a good song, but this is looking really lame so far

They've said the mobile version's gonna be the full a** version of the game, played with guitar and all

Which is neat and I suppose made possible by them dropping CG graphics for performance/music videos

i'm assuming you dont need the guitar to play on mobile. its really nice that they put in that option
and now that i really think about it, FMV's might turn out to be better than CG anyway

interested in seeing how well the fmv thing like... works lol
having it transition between different clips seamlessly is either going to have to have some really clever editing tricks thrown in or just dumb obvious cut points like the POV looking down at the ground or w/e
