There's a difference though;
Claus is Lucas' brother and can do what Lucas can do. It's literally the same character but he has a different personality and has possibilities for another form . It'd be like 2 characters in 1. Also, the replacing the main character issue could just be fixed with palletes, AND we don't have a playable Mother villain, AND Claus could have a unique moveset with his suit. Why I think Claus is perfect is because he could rep the villain, could replace Lucas without many complaining due to palletes and him able to have a Shiek/Zelda thing with his Suit and the moveset from Lucas, and we have a new unique set of moves with his suit.

There would be an issue though because

If you have an issue its fixed with palletes.

Yeah, because Jigglypuff wasn't added in cause of popularity, causing the series to not have Meowth (Who was planned) who is the Main Antagonist with James and Jessie.

Suggesting replacing the main character is ridiculous. It wouldn't satisfy fans because fans like Lucas, the character. Also it wouldn't make sense for him to have 2 forms like zelda/shiek, since in the game he only really fights when he's the masked man.

They can just change Lucas' move set around to de-clone him even more, like in project M.

If they added him in addition to Lucas, that'd be sweet. I hope we get to see another mother character, I could see them adding Jeff if any one. He's already an assist trophy.

we should replace mario with shadow mario
shadow mario could switch between shadow mario and bowser jr and they could just give shadow mario the same moveset that mario has

Actually, now that I think of it, FLINT (Mother) won a poll in 3rd place I think that was apparently from Sakurai a while back. (Need confirmation) I'd like to think Ness or lucas get's a actual moveset and not use some excuse like they were taught that. For example, Pk Rockin as a move.

Mario is a veteran though. Part of the invincible 12. Lucas was a newcomer

Lucas, however, is still the main character of Mother 3 and more strongly represents the game than any other character. He's already appeared in Smash and swapping him out for some secondary Mother 3 character doesn't make senses. If it was a secondary Mother2/EarthBound character he was being swapped for, then it be more reasonable as they are supported by Ness. But removing characters is dumb anyway.

Lucario is important in PKMN X/Y
Ike is still just as important
Wolf is too unique from Fox. Star Fox is one of Sakurai's fave franchises.

Go to SmashBoards and learn why these characters won't be cut
