Weeeeeell I've been playing with that code

When I put it in origninally, it fixed the whole problem, but added another (Arguably more gamebreaking) glitch. So, I figured out how masks work and used one for Trollbean.

When I finally got it working, I put your script back on, and it still doesn't quite work perfectly. It doesn't seem to be happening as severely anymore, but it still exists. Any idea what's happening?

>.> If you need me to upload the newest version of the game I will

The first half of the code should allow the character to jump through platforms, and land on the platform if the character was moving downward. In a demo that I built when I tested the code, I forgot to allow for horizontal movement (and when I look at the code, it shouldn't allow horizontal movement while "inside" the platform").

I'll try to come up with a code eventually, but I'd recommend only using the end part of that code for the time being:
Collision Event w/ obj_platform
Code:
move_contact_solid(direction,speed)
if ! place_free(x,y+1) or ! place_free(x,y-1)
vspeed = 0
if ! place_free(x+1,y) or ! place_free(x-1,y)
hspeed = 0

Wow, it works perfectly!

Thanks so much Shyan, I'd have never figured any of this s*** out otherwise :p

Now that all the gamebreaking glitches are taken care of - The demo's gonna be updated relatively soon. I forget what all's been added, but there's at least one more character, and the hard mode + cheat code input. I'll be uploading the new version as soon as we get some good menus and a good loading screen done. Dakota is working on it.

Well guys - read the OP. Development on Trollbean has been temporarily suspended in favor of another project. However - I've posted a download for the most recent version. It has much more than the previously posted version had - Check it out! :p

Download

Note: Press F1 for additional details within the game, like how to access the (incomplete) 2nd world and the harder than hell Manly Men mode.

Have fun!

The new engine is a lot better, good job. I also liked World 2 but the canon was a bit over powered.

On the robot boss? Yeah, it was better in theory than practice. That's not much of a fight.

Hey hey hey. I've begun working on Trollbean in my spare time again. I've posted v0.2b on the OP, this is the version I'll be using for my upcoming game design competition. Gonna wipe the floor, gold team rules etc.

I'd love it if you check it out :3 Constructive criticism (and compliments :3) encouraged.

I do plan on adding lots more to the game, but this is the start.

As much as I would like to play it (the older version was fairly interesting) I can't seem to get media fire to let me download ANYTHING.

The game is coming along really nicely, the new level designs are more enjoyable to play. One thing I would like to see changed is the backround though, it's a lot better then before but it hurts the eyes after awhile. If you simply increased the size of the bricks so one is the size of the current four it would look a lot better. Also a quick question for the lights, are you you using transparent glows or are you simply taking the background and making it lighter? I noticed a little tiling problem on the lights, if need be I can add transparency for you quick.

I'd simply edited the background. Which light has a problem?

It all looks a little distorted.

That's not the only thing that looks distorted. The hell is wrong with that box? And the door?

My computer has a similar problem. Even the Game Maker support forums aren't quite sure what the cause of it is, but the resolution is fine on some computers but wonky on others. It's some weird s***

Hopefully it wont effect the final product to much =/

It probably will unless somebody can figure out what the problem is.
