That was my original thought, but be sure to read the description

The box is in NES style with a manual, but doesn't actually have the game in it (since you get a download)

Went ahead and dropped $20. I wonder if Capcom will hurriedly start the development of Mega Man 11 after this Kickstarter succeeds.. I wonder if we'll see Inafune's creation become his main competition.

A game, I remind you, they didn't even make. They just publicized a fan game.


This is MM11. There's no other way of saying it. Inafune's on the edge of copyrighting a franchise he should be running right now. RockBeckman is a blue robot capable of copying powers in a franchise 'based off of' 8 and 16 bit games fighting the Mighty Numbers.

It's Megaman in all but name. Not that that's a bad thing. I'm surprised it hasn't already been funded.

I was more or less joking that people hadn't thrown all their money immediately and it being fulfilled in seconds, considering it's the first Megaman game in a while.

It'd be hilarious actually, since they've got no legal argument. While Capcom owns Mega Man and the characters associated with it, they can't copyright the gameplay ideas like jump n' shooting or taking powers from bosses. As long as it doesn't use any Mega Man content, there's nothing Capcom can do.

Nintendo had a legal case due to Donkey Kong, the only reason they won is because King Kong was something something so then Nintendo copyrighted DK or something. I think it was something to do with public domain. (??)

EDIT: Yep I looked it up, they only won because Universal had never trademarked King Kong and he was on public domain. My point being the case would be extremely similiar, only Megaman is trademarked.

They got a C&D from Universal, who made the King Kong movie. The exact reasons why they won are long and complex, but it has to do with the fact that the rights to King Kong were divided among four different parties at the time, Universal being only one of them.
