Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS

I just don't really like how the game's balance is being directed generally. Instead hitting these characters over the head with giant nerfs they should be focusing wayyyyyyy more on bringing up some of the not as good characters from the bottom. The patch with the Zelda and Samus buffs is what I mean, that's what it should have been and continued to be. I understand nerfing dumb stuff, but generally nerfing without bringing anyone else up just feels lame.

it's not the nerf that's frustrating, it's the full playstyle change. if she doesn't have fun punishes with a bunch of moves, then she's not the Bayonetta i enjoy playing.

i could live with just a dABK nerf, but making Witch Twist hella easy to SDI out of? lmao no.

I agree, Jigglypuff still hasn't been touched yet and Dedede keeps getting nerfed for no reason.

it's because whatever balance team is working on it at this stage (idk if it's still namco or some internal group at nintendo or what) literally do not care about how competitive it is. if they did they'd bring up characters from the bottom. they fix stuff like this because of the very vocal very public outcry about how ridiculous bayonetta is in the meta and it's bad PR for them especially if it's backed up by every player who goes on for glory just getting hit by a million bayo players in a row.

In other news, people have started modding Smash 4. We already have texture hacks and a Brawl Minus-esque mod that edits the roster's movesets.

There's even a mod in progress to make Falco play exactly like he did in Melee. And we all know what that led to in Brawl modding...

As inevitable as it is at this point, I honestly don't think Smash 4 Project M is necessary. However, there are still people who despise the game just because it's not Melee. It made sense why they did it to Brawl since that game went out of its way to be anti-competitive but Smash 4 doesn't have that problem.

What I would like to see is a mod that re-balances the cast with competitive play in mind like what Balanced Brawl did. Maybe even add some new characters if the technology advances enough. I'm sure we'd all love to play as the Ice Climbers on the Wii U. (Sakurai actually had them running without fault on the Wii U version and since 8-player Smash was one of the major goals of that game's development, it stands to reason that they would work in this mode too.)

What about you guys and gals?

my hopes for mods are quite reasonable

-let me trade the s*** stages for the best 3ds/melee/brawl/64 ones
f*** certain character's alts (maybe add a couple new ones, but not overboard)
-Midgar music

that's it

i'd also like a mod that could actually balance the game & make the s*** characters good without changing the character's actual moves but we all know that's not gonna happen

Actually, now that Inthink about it, it would be cool if certain characters' custom moves were completely changed--kind of like what Project M did except you would have a choice between the original special move or the new custom. It would be really cool if the rest of the cast had customs that were actually different as opposed to having modified properties. So many possibilities.

That honestly didn't bother that much in Project M since her regular moveset was also available.
What bothered me though, was that Lucario was basically a furry Ryu and Lucas' specials were utter s*** in comparison to his original moveset.

at least that project ganondorf mod had the decency to have Sworded ganon mode triggered as a taunt for regular Ganondorf and OoT Ganondorf as a separate character.

It also gave fisticuffs Ganon back his Warlock Punch and the volcano kick. Granted, you have to use the latter by by pressing up, A, and B all at omce but at least it's there.

Speaking of Project Ganondorf, it's actually getting an update.
