More progress. I've been struggling with the big cannon, but I think I've made the blue-stripe style work for it.

What filters did you use to convert the images into sprites by the way?

by now, it looks sonic battle-ish

I used a tool called Color Quantizer.
I'd very, very good for color modifying, and has lots of different builds for sharpeners.

I started by shrinking the image, than sharpening it to my liking, and then modifying the palette to have 4 colors, adjust the range of the existing colors' conversion to new colors help better represent the original image.


I'm not sure what to take from that. XD
