Mass effect 2 is one of the most dumbed down games I've played. Bioware basically took out any RPG concept that was complex and left you with the bare bones minimum. The game itself is a bland fps, where they even changed how the shooting worked. The first had unlimited ammo and overheating. In 2 they decided "oh man infinite ammo is bad and overheating is too different, lets give you ammo and we can be like every other fps omg."

The game itself is so limited. In the first you could do so much more side exploration, and in the second you can't really do anything on planets unless it's one of the boring Cerberus side quests.

And then you find the game is so f*** linear. You clear an area and you can't go back there ever again. Its like bioware didn't want you to explore because that would make the game too complex and then they would have to put effort into making it. In general the game is much smaller than the first. The citadel was so much larger in the first and in the second its literally like seven levels of a mall with two areas only accessible on a quest.

The game is pretty damn short as well. If you only focused on the main missions you could probably have it done in around a day. And there aren't even that many side missions. A large amount of fetch quests make up a bunch of them in general.

Maybe the game would be good if bioware didn't half a** everything, but I don't think they're capable of putting effort into anything anymore.
