Hey Cleod, you gonna do anything about the large amount of bots that have been coming in after the previous hacking event?

A few days ago I took some extreme measures to help prevent more bots, so hopefully it has some effect

My guess is that the server was getting choked up at some point

This is odd...

"You have been permanantally banned from this site. Reason for ban: IP address of bots, spammers, hackers, etc. This IP address has been banned from the board." (Or something similar)

I was not logged in; as soon as I do log in, everythings fine with my account.

It may be that an IP you use was banned, but either A) your IP happened to change after logging in or B) your username has been added as an exception to that ban. (Send me an email if the problem continues)

I don't really understand why that happens either but it seems to fix itself after a bit

What kind of "extreme measures"?

Yeah right I wish. Instead I just fixed the Anti-bot question which got broken during the upgrade, and upgraded the forums yet again to the most recent version

EDIT: On another note, I'm not sure if it's my computer, but I keep having to reload pages. Especially when I post. Oh, and I got this error when I tried to go to the "View your posts" page:

And then, because of the reloading pages problem, I ended up triple posting and attempted to delete the latest post. A message popped up and said "You can not delete posts in this topic." or something similar, but the post was still deleted.

That I can't do anything about sorry. The forums didn't agree with the database, so I suspect some data was cut mid-transmission at a bad time

The "Thanks for posting" page takes a ridiculously long time to load

I noticed, I'm going to attempt some optimizations tomorrow morning when less people are on. Pray it doesn't break again

*update*

I think the forums should at least run a little faster now. My old configuration settings are completely dead and won't work anymore but I tried updating the current settings with some stuff from the old settings to make the place run faster

The PM'ing is weird. When you type quickly, the smilies stop moving and your text doesn't show until you stop typing. Except the cursor still moves.

Funny, it wasn't happening before. Oh, and the archive links are broken.

Archive is down due to the attack a month maybe 2 ago... Since they may have gotten infected.
