I highly doubt that nintendo would be stupid enough to have 4 characters that are essentially the same. Its not like they are that stupid, are they? Although... there was... tripping.

If three Marios, three Foxes, two Links, and two Captain Falcons can make it into SSB, then so can another Fox. Not saying that Luigi and Mario are the exact same, and same with the rest of the characters, but the movesets are just too similar.
