Of course characters can help sell a game but keeping interest in a gameseries requires good gameplay and design, which in the case of Playstation All Stars is one of the things people frequently give mixed feedback about as well.

The gameplay is very hit-or-miss in that the only way to kill people is by Supers, meaning that if you miss all your work on that super bar is lost. On top of that there are some characters that easily combo into their Level 1 super so there is no point is using Level 2's or 3's. On top of that, there are practically no combos in this game (exlcuding 1 or 2 characters like Raiden) so matches aren't really as in-depth as other fighting/brawler games. They made it even more stupid by adding an item (that appears randomly) that can easily rack up to 3 kills.

I do agree with you that Naughty Dog probably would've done a better job.

I think that the only reason people bought the game in general was that it had characters that we all like and love (including some that haven't been active for a while like Sir Dan) lol so I can agree with you on that.

Kirby: Canvas Curse and Kirby: Squeak Squad are both great games.

And as far as Squeak Squad, I haven't seen any opinions on it either way. It just seems to me to be underrated if anything. I haven't finished it yet but it might be my favorite game in the series so far.
