there's still one new character yet to be announced for the launch roster
the post-launch characters will probably all be returning characters, maybe one or two new ones people would prefer buying a character they've used before and enjoyed in other games to taking a gamble on a completely new one that's why i've never been a huge fan of character DLC in fighting games, you can buy a character and then end up not liking how they play and then you've wasted your money there should be a try before you buy option for every fighting game with character DLC |

Usually character dlc in fighting games come with explanatory trailers and additional reports by the team detailing the character. Furthermore the fighting game community is always very active in quickly providing breakdowns of characters after they are released. You could use those to decide if a character will be fun for you to play as.

I think it's a nice idea but ultimately I can't see companies doing it. At least not in the near future.

Steam will let you refund DLC but I don't think it'll work with SFV since you're paying for in-game currency and not the actual content you buy using it
