Anyone remember how Sakurai wants to make a feature that would allow you to customize a character in the 3DS version and import it to the Wii U version?
Yeah, if this is true, then it looks like Character customization or even Create-a-character could be in SSB4

This might turn out to be a revision of the sticker system from Brawl. It would be cool if the game lets you change the graphical flags of some attacks, like having Mario's fireballs do ice damage instead of fire lol.

What I think would work is have a Mii be your created character, and giving him/her different styles that can be edited to a degree.
EDIT: Or something to that degree with the characters.

I really want to see how they're going to do the Create-a-character thing.

Probably give you things like "swordsman", "Fighter", the such. So like fighter would be sort of like CF while swordsman would be like Marth, then customize the special skills.

I'm completely and utterly against a character creator. Though, if they did maybe a palette editor on the 3DS that would let you port them over, I would be pretty happy.

This. This. Thisthisthis. Although also on the Wii U. I've actually been wishing for a palette editor since I was like, 10.

You guys are overthinking, imo. He probably means like, stickers. You play on your 3DS to get stickers and stickers power your character up when you move them over to the Wii U version. I really don't feel like they'd put as much control as a total create-a-character in your hands, even if it's just a mii.

Sakurai was just spitballing ideas when he said that anyway. At that point, quite literally nothing was on paper or set in stone at all, he was only throwing around concepts that he'd thought of.

At least they proved that they can think that way, but as to whether they'd actually do it... I see stickers being used in vs mode

I think you're all looking too far into this. I'm not expecting a full character creation mode to be in Smash 4, but at the very least, I'd want to be able to customize a character's moveset and save it to your nickname à la Tales of Symphonia. It would also put an end to the whole clone character debate once and for all; for instance: If you want a Ganondorf with a sword, you've got it, and if you want a Ganondorf who plays like Captain Falcon, that's there too. It would also make Online play much more exciting because you'd never know what you're going up against.
But then again, wouldn't it be great if a full Character Creator did come out and we could all make our own versions of Ichigo Kurosaki or whichever anime character you want to see in Smash?
Moving on to something completely different, let's briefly move on to the topic of Downloadable Content. Even Brawl could have had DLC, after all, the data for the "forbidden seven characters" is still contained within the disc. I'd want to see DLC released at a certain point after the game releases, not just in the form of characters and stages, but also bugfixes and character balancing updates. However, DLC is a big responsibility and rarely have I seen it ever done right. What I mean by that is if it's on the disc and you're paying for it, that is unacceptable (I'm looking at you, Capcom. ಠ_ಠ) and should never be done under any circumstances (unless the content in question is a bonus for pre-ordering the game. That's the only time in which on-disc DLC is acceptable). But I'm confident that Nintendo won't fail to make a great game. In the meantime however, we have Super Smash Flash 2 to help with the wait so I won't have to go through the same situation I went through with Brawl's impending release. (For those wondering, my Melee Disc got scratched to absolute hell shortly before Brawl was announced so I went through a sort of "Smash Withdrawl" as it were.)

I don't think the Wii wouldn't have been able to handle that much. You have a point with the excisting data of those Six tho, but I dunno. Plus, this is Nintendo we're talking about. I have never seen Nintendo making DLC for their games. It was my understanding that they just put everything they want into the game at once, and then go to a next project.

Maybe not downloadable content in the current sense, but again, stuff like bugfixes and character balancing would be absolutely necessary. Brawl had a problem with that and the fans had to make a Brawl Plus. Also, I don't even think Nintendo ever patched that Spin Dash glitch in the Hanenbow stage when it could probably have been easily done. Plus the advent of [insert game here] channels proves that Nintendo can do Downloadable Content. The Mario Kart Wii channel added new ghost data and special tournament events, and the Skyward Sword Channel patched that game-breaking glitch towards the end of the game. So a "Smash 4 Channel" could easily be done. Heck, They even made a Mario Kart 7 Channel and had it built-in to the game card and SpotPass on the 3DS could be classified as DLC. Heck, even Brawl sent a stage of their choice to players to use one day at a time every day for a while.
