viewtopic.php?f=16&t=24439Specifically the last post, but also most of the other posts in that thread. Great words from the administrator of the site. I have this slight feeling that Hakker hates me, or it might just be the whole spam section, ionno. Either way, we have a perfectly legitimate discussion of basic competitive game design that is intended to go against the people who believe that the only way to play brawl competitively is 1v1 with no items (tourneyfags) and those who ban everything that they don't like (scrubs) by saying "this game has potential to be competitive no matter how you play it". Then it gets spammed by a bunch of people from the spam section who either didn't read, did read and didn't understand, or did read, understood, and decided to be dicks about it anyways. And this after the rules being tightened. The crowning end, of course, is the admin telling me to go jump off a bridge and locking the topic for no reason other than that he thinks talking about video game theory is stupid... in a forum for video games. It's not like the topic had no potential or was a stupid troll topic; smashboards has just seen the advent of three very similar threads with a lot of very interesting (and eye-opening) discussion. And it certainly wasn't some topic with absolutely no merit beyond voicing your opinion like those lovely "what is your favorite X" topics. So why was it locked? But yeah, either way, I tried taking this to PMs with Hakker and the response was "Yeah really, go do it". So I'll post this here, saying, what gives? I'm not allowed to talk about video game design theory based on one game on a forum whose main draw is a game that is being developed (which is a clone of that game) and other flash projects, in a subforum about the damn game? Or is the rule "if the spam section says he's a f*****, he's a f*****, get rid of him"? It sets a terrible precedent for moderation when an admin is allowed to call someone a no-lifer on a video gaming website, and tell him to go jump off a bridge, merely because he started an intelligent conversation. Would you prefer that all of the discussion in the SSB subforum sinks to low-level 4chan trolling and one-liners by either pros too snobby to explain their points or noobs to stupid to post more than "i think sonic is awesome becuz of how fast he is sonic 4 t3h w1n"? If so, be my guest.

I figured you would complain about this. I would, too. First of all, Hakker is not inclined to be nice to anybody- he is inclined to do his job as an administrator. While he did not voice a particular reason, it was quite obvious that the thread would only continue to deteriorate from the already piss poor condition it was in (because we were s*** on it), and I would believe that a thread destined for such a fate is better off locked. Spam is not entirely at fault, as it does take both an antagonist and a target gullible enough to reply- you do not consider yourself that gullible target, but the poor good guy being victimized by the inner circle you seem to think makes all the decisions and treat your resulting anger with no subtly. I am not denying participation, but your blind ineptitude at treating the resulting replies with an ounce of patience wasn't helping the situation, either. You claim some of us read your post and didn't understand it; this is also partially your fault, because if you can't tailor a post the supposedly dumb denizens of the not-so-secret Illuminati section cannot understand, you're rather deserving of the outcome.
You're laying bait by comparing MG to smashboards. This forum isn't that one, don't expect us to act like the people there. Nobody said you can't talk about this subject- the outcome, however, was never a guaranteed "interesting, eye-opening" debate, and that seems to be what you were expecting. It isn't something most of us can (or will bother to) provide. My advice is to start the thread again and approach the subject with a bit more civility and hope you get it in kind- aren't debates supposed to set aside personal affairs anyway?
In summary, stop acting like the victimized good guy and getting your panties in a twist over things not going your way- that's life, roll with it.
p.s i am pretty most of us hate you (hakker included) because you have earned the reputation of the close-minded tourneyfag and haven't done much to prove otherwise

You know, I thought about carefully answering all of your points and beating them into the ground, but you started speaking in circles in that rant, I better just skip straight to the point : There is such a thing as flamebaiting, and you were doing it. I don't care what your motivations were, you reach a point where you become so nerdy, even other nerds beat you up for your lunch money. "Video game theory" is just not a theory you discuss in casual circles, unless you wanna get stared at and mocked. As for those trolls... You have a point there, I'll be sure to make them know they aren't above or outside these new rulings.
Now, see, didn't that get a lot farther than b**** to Kiki? Oh, right, another thing, don't come flaunting that you "tried to take this to PMs with Hakker", when all you did was complain to Kiki enough that she'd bring the subject up to the moderator section. Heck, we were never even in direct contact. At least be friggen honest.

Not defending BPC here because I told him not to bring that s*** into MG but he did anyways. But what you did was pretty harsh and now you're making up random reasons why you locked the topic instead of using the last post where you insulted him for stating that. :U Really, you can't even use that until you've locked his other topic which is significantly worse than the one you read. lol.

Yes, because going into a section and locking topics that have been going on for months without doing some damn research into them first is SUCH A GOOD IDEA.

Yeah, the people here are no geniuses... And yes, I'm an easy target. Easy trollbait, I know. But I feel like half the time when I post, it's just that someone from outside comes in and s*** on the post. Could happen to anyone, and what would they do? You could be Mr. Coolsville who doesn't give two s*** about trolls, but when everything you post starts to stink of s*** because of someone else's doing, it's going to be a pain in the a**. I thought it was fairly civil tbh... But whatever. I won't start it again mostly because without good debate, the topic itself becomes fairly useless... and what Hakker said. Yeah, I got you. I miss where I'm being close-minded though; if someone wants to help point that out to me, I would appreciate it. | | | | Hakker wrote: You know, I thought about carefully answering all of your points and beating them into the ground, but you started speaking in circles in that rant, I better just skip straight to the point : There is such a thing as flamebaiting, and you were doing it. I didn't complain to Kiki... Dunno where you're getting that, unless you mean reports (I don't know who gets the notification when I press the button ). I did PM you saying "hey, what gives". I would've said a little more if I didn't know my ability to type intelligent things becomes very, very bad late at night with 1 pro-mille. Whoops. And all right, I'll add smash theory to my list of "don't talk about this" items. In some situations (like when discussing stagelists, which I intend to do mostly to challenge the list in the PR battles thing). Now that I'm more sober (stupid f*** class parties), this is an argument I really can't win, and it's kind of stupid.
