Fun fact: The USSR built an autonomous nuclear launch system that would retaliate if American missiles hit Russian soil.
Oh, and it's still operational.
How can it tell?

Maybe because it was made in a time where the missiles most likely to hit Russia were American. Plus, it wasn't fully automated, if I remember correctly.

A person could deactivate it with a button. But if nobody did, the system would just assume everyone died and retaliate.

What could dead people gain with that?

About 2012 by the way, I heard that something would happen where humans would have an advancement in their minds and some sphere would be created around the Earth. The sphere would allow humans to reach full capacity and see things through. Of course, that's what i heard. Personally, the world is *(&%^&$ when the sun begins to die.

Nothing, but nobody would attack them, huh?

I've heard that even Thailand had a few nuclear missiles pointed up North until China asked us to dismantle them in the 70s.

Details are pretty sketchy, but I don't think they threatened to invade or whatnot. The silo is still there today, and it has an active guard around it. Makes me wonder if we really disarmed our nuclear armaments.

Which won't happen for a very long time. Like "billions of years" long.

I believe the estimate currently stands at 5-6 billion years. The lack of sunlight isn't what bothers me, it's the lack of a gravitational pull. I mean, what'll happen when all of a sudden, we get flung towards god knows what.

Wouldn't the Sun's gravitational pull actually get stronger that close to the end of its lifetime?
