Replacing my 4 year-old LG Optimus sometime this month. My dad is telling me to go for a samsung galaxy s5 and that he'd pay for half of it cause he's a cool dude. Any of you know if that's the one to go for, or suggest some alternatives? Highest I can go is $350.

If you can get the S5, go for it. Better specs than the iPhone 6.

However, if you are more casual user, then maybe an iPhone would suit you better. They are great phones that (at least in my experience) are more user-friendly. The specs, despite being worse in comparison to Androids, arent that bad either. I was able to run a bunch of video games via emulators on my jailbroken iPhone 5s with no problems at all. (I 100%'d P3FES, beat Valkyria Chronicles 2, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2, and a bunch of other stuff on my 5s lmao).

Well problem solved, my dad said he'd just give me his S5 and he'd get a new phone so that's cool. Didn't know the specs were stronger on the S5 than the iphone 6 though, can you show me where you saw that?

iphones always slow down after a while for some reason, i think that's just how they're built, regardless of specs. which is a shame, since the iPhone 6 has some specs that actually made me nod my head

the s5 is very nice, nice speed and good storage space (which is expandable by way of micro sd of course, like any Android). it's what i was using up until like last month, which is when i lost it

the s6 is better but basically only in terms of speed and the fact that it doesn't use plastic for the phone's back cover, so it's more comfy to hold. the best Android phone I've seen to date though is the nexus 6P, which is made by Google themselves. so you don't have to worry about it being locked or full of bloatware. it's one of those Androids that you don't have to root to improve, because it's already amazing :>
