Agreed, there's so many different items and abilities in the Zelda series that theres really no reason for Young Link or Toon Link to not get an updated moveset, unless the devs where content in keeping them close to their Smash counterparts.

Here is my theory on characters.

If they get in, I welcome them in with open arms. For example, if Daisy was to get in, I wouldn't be happy, but I also wouldn't stop playing the game. If Monkey D. Luffy, (My most wanted character), was to get in the game, I would be the most excited dude in the world. If he didn't get in the game, that still wouldn't stop me from playing SSF2.

Realmemoryman3 does not get it. He dedicates EVERY post about Daisy!! It is getting annoying!! He should quit doing that!!

My speculation for possible newcomers:
Geno (because Super Mario RPG)
King K. Rool (we need more villains)
Andy (could be a really unique fighter)
Takamaru (Nintendo first samurai)
Ray (MK III or 01, doesn't really matter)
Reckless Sillhouette (APPEARED IN ALL 1359 WII GAMES)
Shantae (great potential with hair attacks and belly dance transformations)
Quote (indie icon who has been on Nintendo consoles)
Banjo-Kazooie (one of the best games on N64)
Rayman (no limbs = great grabs)
Crash (more of Nintendo's past competition)
Luffy (completing the HST)

1. Shantae was around since the GBA days, so there could be a possibility.
2. Reckless Silhouette was the guy in the safety notice at the start of every Wii game. And before you say anything, just remember that they made a 2D monochrome person, a robot made to sell the NES, and a fitness instructor into fighters. Compared to those, this wouldn't be so far-fetched.

And as for not revealing too much, it encourages hype and speculation, and teasing us with mere hints keeps us hooked so we can have pleasure discovering the rest of the secrets in game. Showcasing everything now would spoil the fun, and we'd get bored of SSF2 even before Beta gets released.

Lastly, you think this speculation is pointless, but don't you yourself have fun constantly spamming about Daisy? That, albeit in the loosest definition possible, is speculation.

Don't the devs also have to program custom A.I for the fighters? Is it possible for a custom Daisy A.I to use down throw combos?
