thunder pls is it just me or is this move broken as s*** stays out for too long, spikes the whole length, covers the whole screen it's a free KO any time a character with predictable recovery is offstage
pika is legit the only character I get salty against

I get salty against lots of characters personally because nothing I do is viable. But Pika is in my top 2.

I find true Thunder spiking quite easy to avoid and it can be predictable to know when a Pikachu will go for it. However, you do need to have a character that is good at stalling their recovery a bit.
What I really overboard about Pikachu is Dair; so fast on start-up, with high-priority, low horizontal hitting angle; setups combos/frame-traps so well, ever into itself; can kill many characters at 70-80% the side of any stage, and his max air-speed lets him do a yolo-run-of-stage-Dair for a gimp attempt. And whether he succeeds (kill at like 40%) or fails to land the Dair, Quick-Attack has the range to make it back to the stage. It's like Sheik's Fair, but indirectly buffed because of Pika's air-speed and recovery.
Maybe it's to make up for his back-air being useless.

I'll Thunder campy Links all day with Pika. And yeah, back air is generally useless, but if you can slip one in and hit every part of it, damn it feels good. I find it funny that fedora is so pika salty. His main has one of the best MUs against him. You have no business getting thunder spiked with Kirby, and dair is harder to hit because he's so short.

Holy ash ketchup! Thunder has TWO hitboxes that meteor. If you get by both, it's pretty much an instant-kill, even at very low percents.

Anyone else use short-hop pivot with Pikachu? Here's my analysis on how Pika could use this.
Short-hop pivot Thunder Jolt could be used in the same fashion as Short-hop pivot Fireball with Mario: getaway tool while keeping up pressure, or setup since Pika can run after it and keep up.

I think Pika doesn't really have a good camping option with Thunder Jolt this demo (thank God), and I don't really see it being that useful. At least my Pika is very rushdown and I don't really see how retreating Thunder Jolt is useful because the projectile is too slow to be viable at harassment and Pika doesn't have another projectile to use once he (it?) has space.

You're using the word pivot wrong- I think you just mean reversed specials.

I think pivot refers to techniques with smashes and tilts that allow you to turn around while using them, like the retreating f-tilt technique in this game.

Thunder jolt seems bad, but at the same time it's still viable as a camping option or retreating tool, but that's mostly because most characters don't have the right tools to be able to adequately punish a t-jolt unless you missspaced it to begin with.

If it cant be adequately punished then it isnt bad. Its a pretty high priority projectile that can both help with your approach and bait out an opponents. And also completely ruin my edgecamping game, but luckily none of them have caught on yet.
It also almost never reflects properly due to issues with how it moves, so there's very little risk of it backfiring.

So I want Pika to be one of my mains, secondaries, or characters I'll barley use. Any tips on how to use him? I think I got the basics down so any help would be appreciated.

I just saw this. Here's the thing to keep in mind - when I complain about a move, it usually doesnt have anything to do with Kirby's matchup with that character. Kirby can avoid thunder spiking pretty well, but most characters simply cant. This isn't salt this is legitimate concerns about the game's balance.
