OOC: Half-assed post coming through

Mike stepped out of the helicopter. Taking a look around him, he started to head out.

Ramon followed everyone out of the helicopter. Something about directly helping people in need made him more optimistic that he could do more than he could last mission. "Are you sure you'd be up to that though? It could be pretty draining, even if it is amplified." He remembered how everyone had been extremely tired after last mission and thought about how it'd affect him this time if used on an even bigger scale.

Natalie marveled as the jet everyone had been riding in suddenly and unexpectedly morphed into a helicopter. The wonders of technology were truly unfathomable. After several moments of gawking, her attention snapped back to the situation at hand. The new mission was to assist prospective typhoon victims in Indonesia, which seemed a bit mundane. Still, it was a welcome change of pace after the chaos that had constituted the majority of their previous outing.

Natalie stretched as she disembarked from the aircraft of dubious classification, shielding her eyes from the rain as she took stock of her surroundings. Admittedly, it felt good to be near the world's largest source of salt again. The shore would likely be her first destination.

Tailin liked rain. She loved watching water droplets trickle down window panes, she loved looking up at the clouded sky and laughing all while getting drenched. Rain was a natural cleansing agent, for things as much as for thoughts. The rain that greeted Pantheon as they exited the jet was no spring shower, but it was exactly what Tailin needed. She had spent most of the last week in Olympus’ gym and simulation room, training hard and talking little, which were sure signs that she was still trying to process what had happened in the desert. A furious blast of wind caught her face, pelting her and the others with stinging droplets. Yet Tailin felt more refreshed than anything, as though the salty air had passed through her and taken with it all her worries and cares. She smiled, grateful for the opportunity to use her powers to help people directly. It was a chance to redeem herself in her own eyes for what she had done during the previous mission. She wasn’t going to blow it.

"Hey everyone!" spoke Mercury in his usual animated manner "So, we've been working on some new tech to help you in the field. As you converse with the locals, their speaking will be translated into English through your headsets. It also works in reverse! That way, you can converse with the locals in their native tongue, which is produced by your IRIS devices."

"Of course, the system may not be able to pick up on what is being said if you are not in close proximity, or if the system cannot hear it properly. Additionally, translations may have a tendency to be imperfect due to cultural quirks and contexts of languages. But hey! At least you won't have to depend on Magnesia to translate everything! Good luck Pantheon, Mercury out!"

"Alright, that definitely helps" nodded Magnesia while standing in front of the team. She spoke through their communication line, as any words she tried to speak out loud were immediately stolen by the wind. "Saline, Miroirs, and Richter, you're with me. We're heading to the coast, and there we will reinforce the east and west canals to prevent flooding of the city. We'll also have to keep an eye open for any potential mudslides and put a stop to them before they cause significant damage."

"M.B., Shenanigan and Apiceus, you three are on civilian detail. We've already been alerted of a bus that has rolled onto its side in the heart of downtown Jakarta. Your IRIS maps will direct you to its location. Also, the UN will be updating us periodically if any other civilian concerns have arisen."

"Everyone, let's stay safe," she cautioned "I know we're not facing robbers, or crazed supers, but the forces of nature are just as formidable. Alright? Pantheon, let's move out!"

Magnesia began to levitate from the ground, but immediately thought against it, and landed on the ground. The wind was incredibly powerful, and with the approaching typhoon it would only get more powerful; flying in the air she could be knocked out by debris thrown by the wind. Thus, she led her group as the ran towards the coast, the sound of the roaring sea growing louder and louder as they approached it.

Standing on a hill overlooking the turbulent sea, they could see the monstrous waves crashing against the sand. The eastern canal looked worse for wear; having been poorly maintained in recent years, there were various breaches that would do little to stop the city from being flooded. Some parts of the canal crumbled from lack of care.

"Ok boys, let's go", ordered Tailin. "Try to keep up."

Without another word she was off towards the bus, running with long strides ever-so-slightly amplified by bursts of kinetic energy. It wouldn't do to damage the pavement, after all, and she didn't want to get too far ahead.

"Right." Mike spoke as he followed behind Tailin. He was eager to help and also glad that it seemed like it would be nothing like the last mission.

Natalie noted the state of the canals nonchalantly.
This shouldn't be terribly difficult. She mused, but refrained from taking action. Instead, she hovered back at the rear of the group and waited for someone else to take point.

Austin followed after Tailin. "Who made you the boss?" He said as they ran towards the bus.

"Me," Tailin replied cheekily, offering only a grin as further explanation. "Though I'm sure there are some forms you could fill out if you want to request a staff change," she called over her shoulder as they neared the location of the bus.

Immediately Abigail got to work, with the winds having already caused large amounts of destruction, there was plenty of scrap metal for her to collect with her powers. The metal began to fly in the air as she raised her hands upwards and directed it towards one of the gaping holes in the canal.

She noted that the wind had picked up considerably, and the waves were growing larger and larger as the typhoon approached. They would have to be quick to fill the holes in the canals, and hopefully it would divert most of the water from the city and back out into the sea at the other end of the city.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They could hear the cries being translated from Indonesian into English as people screamed for help from inside the trapped bus. There were some who had managed to climb out through the side windows, but most of the elderly, women, and children were still trapped inside.

One of them noticed the approaching strangers, and immediately began to yell for help. Exclaiming that the bus driver had been knocked unconscious during the crash.

Mike's mind quickly raced to determine what would be the best route to save the civilians. He could try to flip the bus back right side up, or break a window, the back would be the best, and help them escape. Making his way closer towards the bus, he cleared the way and opened both emergency escapes, the one on top of the bus and behind the bus. "Hurry!" He yelled as he attempted to help filter out the trapped civilians.

As Mike created a passage to allow the trapped passengers to escape, Tailin hopped up on the bus and stuck her head through the driver’s window to ensure that everyone stayed calm despite her partner’s insistence on swiftness. “Everything is going to be all right,” she called, her automatic translator relaying the message almost instantaneously. “We’re a team of superheroes and we’re here to help. Anyone who can move, make your way to the exit nearest you. My friends and I will help you get out. Everyone else, we’ll be right there.”

Tailin glanced down at the driver and grimaced at the lump that was already forming on his head. Evidently he had suffered quite the impact, but thankfully it looked like he was still alive. She pulled her head out of the bus to call Austin over. “Hey, M.B.! I’m going to need your help with this guy.”

Walking up to the piles of rubble, Bertók thought it might be a good idea to use copies of that as extra barriers. He wasn't sure how strong they were against waves, seeing how his illusions were easily crushed by material things, but it was worth a try. Otherwise he was just useless.

"I'm going to continually make copies of debris that we can use as barriers" He called out to Abigail. "They should be light fodder, but hopefully they'll have enough mass to act as obstacles and divert the waves." With that he began to bring his mirror around to as many things as possible, trying not to have more than a few seconds between copy. He could feel the mental stress begin to rise as each copy was made, but shrugged it off as he did his work.

Natalie quickly went to work, following Abigail’s lead. As the waves washed over the walls of the channel, she began to exert her influence. Sea water seeped into the crevices and breaches in the side of the canal, leaving deposits of salt behind as it retreated. Due to the nature of her abilities, the girl wasn’t capable of outputting as much raw power as the others, but she had much finer control, allowing for a great deal of finesse. This made her power perfect for filling in the finer cracks in the walls.

Before long, Natalie noted Bertók’s efforts as he duplicated debris scattered about to create barriers. She had personally witnessed how fragile his constructs could be, so she wanted to ensure his contributions wouldn't go to waste. Without a word, she began packing in the rubble with protective layers of salt as soon as he made it.
