how the f*** can you have the dead kennedys on the same list as rise against?
rise against is like the whiny, linkin park-esque band of the punk world

Because the Dead Kennedys and Rise Against are both f*** amazing and Rise Against also has an amazing hardcore background. Try and listen to some of the songs I have included there.

f*** yeah I did. Rise Against was originally defined as a hardcore punk band, with major influences from Minor Threat and Black Flag, two of Tim McIlrath's favorite bands. That's what their older music was like, hardcore punk. They've calmed down a bit since then and are much more popular, but they still keep some of their hardcore roots. I know a lot about this band.

see what I'm getting at?

the only thing you can use "hardcore" to describe is hardcore punk from the late 80's-90's
not all your "metalcore/deathcore/sodomycore/etc."

I rarely use hardcore unless it's with music or something that's seriously f*** awesome. And you have a point with Taylor Swift, etc., but Rise Against, at least their older music, will consitute as hardcore punk rock. I realize their mainstream songs you've probably heard like Help Is On The Way and Savior are nowhere near hardcore, but hardcore is how they started out and that's most of their music I like the most. If you don't agree, go ahead. But I'm pretty sure I make a fairly solid point.

And broad stereotypes are what define prejudice, but when given a closed view on something and not deciding to broaden your spectrum any, that's all you can really cling to, isn't it?

Uhh, I was a hardcorefag back when Rise Against first reared it's ugly head into the world. If there's anyone here who would know, it would be me.
Being inspired by Black Flag/DRI/etc doesn't make them stylistically similar at all. Punk was inspired by the Ramones/the Sex Pistols, yet Black Flag/DRI/etc. sound hardly anything like them.
