Super Clash Bros - first early release out now

This is an early preview build of the upcoming Super Clash Bros. It's still unfinished and a bit glitchy, but it's very playable and fun with a group of friends. Only local multiplayer for now, but I'm adding an adventure mode where you can play through remakes/remixes of classic levels, and I really want to add online play but only if there's enough interest. Several more characters are on the way too as you can see from the title screen.

(Some of you may recognize the game from SmashCon, I was right next to the SSF2 booth.)

It's a neat li'l game but it has potential. Having characters work like they do in their games is rather unique but it could lead to massive imbalance. Either way, might play this later when it has more characters and will definitely try the adventure mode. (As long as the game's free that is!)

Pro - Knuckles.
Cons - Could use better ripped sprites and backgrounds, risk of imbalance, Samus is a Megaman clone.

Thanks! I'm working on a fully fleshed out version of Samus now, with 8-way aiming, all her beams, missiles, etc. from Super Metroid.

Which sprites or backgrounds were you referring to?

About all of em really. Directly ripped sprites are sort of bootleg-ish, notice how SSF2 either uses custom sprites or touches the sprites up a bit (Lloyd, Anime minus Luffy etc).
But don't focus on making things look nicer now, focus on content first before polishing things out later.

The sprites being ripped I feel like is sort of the point, given what Clash Bros. is trying to be.

What Steven said. It was originally supposed to be as if the characters were ripped straight from their games, so same sprites, controls, abilities, health systems, etc. I've drifted from that a little bit in trying to make the game more fun & balanced but that's still the core idea.

I suppose that's a valid point. In that case I suppose you could rip better looking sprites from other games like the ever Popular Sonic Advance sprites or perhaps Sonic Mania sprites for Sonic Characters, Metroid Zero Mission sprites for Samus, Megaman 7 sprites for Megaman, Minish Cap/Four Swords sprites for Link etc as default sprites while keeping the 8-bit and other sprites as alts.
