Pokemon Dystopian Dimension is still alive, I've been just thinking of how to advance the story/busy/forgot about it multiple times


Hello, RPers, and welcome to a completely original, game-like RP called:
Shadow Side

Story: show
Shadows.
They're everywhere, creeping behind everyone and everything.
Usually, they are harmless... but what if they were... corrupted?

In the town of Farmersville in Genericlandia, lives certain people with a defect. This defect gives them a good reason to be afraid of their own shadow, as this defect sometimes causes they shadows to grow into lifeless, hostile, kill-happy creatures. It is speculated that a scientist accidentally created the defect-causing virus and tested it on human, which turned his shadow into the most powerful monster yet. And may or may not have made him absolutely insane. The corrupted man stole the virus and spread it to the people of Farmersville, leaving thousands of lives in danger. After years of research and investigation, policeman have been able to track down the corrupt man (who is FAAAAAAAAR away) and have selected people of many different occupations to find and capture him before the shadows kill anybody (... else), while leading scientists try to make an antidote. But, alas, some of these heroes are also corrupt. Hopefully, they are able to save their people before anything happens...


Battle System: show
- Turn-based. Kinda acts like Final Fantasy
- Whoever goes first is, of course, decided by speed. Speed goes from 1-10
- All other stats go from 0-20
- Traits may be added
- HP stats are the max amount of HP
- Damage is calculated like this: (Attack Strength + Attack/Element stat) - Opposing Defense/Element Defense
- Characters have 10 total moves they can learn (split into Physical, Elemental, and Status) and can have 3 at a time.
- YOU guys get to create the moves. (more on that in General Rules)

The Shadow Side:
Infected heroes have a special ability called their Shadow Side/A Character specific Shadow that makes their moves do more damage, but there's a chance that they will hit ALL teammates. Different characters have different shadows based on risk, like more may do 20% more damage but hit teammates 30% of the time. The higher the reward the higher the risk.
Shadow Sides activate 10% of the time


Classes: show
The people of Farmersville have selected people of different occupations to take down such fantasy creatures, and here they are:

Fencers - The swordsman class, Chosen for their sword skills. Are agile and fight elegantly
Stats-
HP: 60-70
Atk: 7-11
Def: 6-7
Elem (Fire, Water, Grass, Electricity, Charm, Poison): 0-2
ElemDef: 6-9
Speed: 9-10

Nurses - The healer. Chosen for obvious reasons. Can use their equipment as a defense
HP: 80-100
Atk: 0-5
Def: 10-12
Elem: 10-13
ElemDef: 9-12
Speed: 2-6

Worker - Like Mages. Come in many forms including Firefighter (Water based), Spy (Poison), Charmer (Charm/Love), Circus Worker (Fire), Electrician (Electricity), and Gardener (Grass)
HP: 50-72
Atk: 0-2 (Circus Worker and Electrician: 7-11)
Def: 10-13
Elem: 15-19
ElemDef: 9-15
Speed: Varies

Boxer - Glass Cannons. Chosen for their power and speed.
HP: 45-60
Atk: 16-20
Def: 11-12
Elem: 0
ElemDef: 1-4
Speed: 8-9

Architects - Tanky and act like blacksmiths. Chosen for their creative minds and iron-working skills.
HP: 80-95
Atk: 5-7
Def: 16-18
Elem: 8-9
ElemDef: 13-16
Speed: 5-7


GENERAL RULES: show
- No OPness
- This RP is rated PG
- Don't overuse healing
- Don't overuse stat buffing
- Don't overuse super strong attacks, unless directed to
- Don't overuse the Shadow Side Effect

ATTACKS:
For attacks, I'm letting you guys create 3-10 character specific attacks, but this comes with it's own set of rules:
- No move can have a power over 80. I recommend that the power should be in the 20-55 range.
- I'm allowing 1 rarely used move to be 70-80 power
- Moves can have status, but please, make them make sense. The statuses are:
         * Burn - Does a tiny bit of damage every turn and lowers speed by 25%
         * Poison - Does damage every turn and lowers attack by 25%
         * Charmed - Lowers attack and element stats by 40%. If a character is charmed by a teammate, that teammate's healing moves heal the charmed character by 25% more
         * Paralysis - Cannot move for 1-3 turns. At turns 2 and 3, characters have a 50% chance of breaking out (Variation: Fear)
         * Sleep/Spore - Cannot move for up to 5 turns. Characters have a 40% chance of breaking out every turn
         * Freeze - VERY Rare. Cannot move for 3 turns no matter what
         * Nausea - Has a 1% chance of happening when a Poison-causing move is used on a Poisoned target. Makes the affected character attack their teammates for 50% of the damage 50% of the time
         * Decay - Also rare. Reduces speed and healing by 40%, with a 15% chance to recover from it every turn.
- Moves and move name should be personalized to each character (This is why I'm letting have a minimum of 3 distinct moves)

Yeah, but, if that's a bad thing (which I think it is, silly me), I can think of 3 compromises:
- Make it so there is no posting order during battle if the players are targeting different enemies
- If someone is inactive, I can advance the game for them by defaulting to "Wait" (I like this one XD)
- Or (the one I'm least willing to do) change it to action-based

Ok....so the stats in the classes section it says stuff like Speed 7-10 does that mean my starting speed can be anywhere between 7 and 10?

Since workers have subclasses, listed there with their common element, their speed can vary,just like how different mages have different stats. Basically, if you choose worker, you can pick any number from 1 to 10.

I may change this, however, if everyone who chooses worker just picks 10

Hibernation Devastation [Ice] - Power: 80 - Physical - 100% chance to freeze yourself and increased def by 50% while frozen, after you unfreeze[Lose the def buff]and burst out of the ice and punch the surrounding ice towards a targeted foe.

As someone who oftens transports many things frozen, my character was able to get chemicals from storage, many which are dangerous, which is why he has a few status and poison moves to go along with his ice element type. Hopefully this explains enough.

Name: Marcello La Vega

Personality (Backstory can also be included, but not required: He is usually calm and collected, often attempting to logically process each situation. However, if he is angered, he goes into an uncontrollable rage and has an insatiable desire to annihilate everything in front of him. Bizarrely, his undying love of sweets will snap him out of this rage if it happens, and for this, he carries a pouch of sweets on his person.

Originally, he was one of the Farmersville Fencing Champions, known for being incredibly elegant when performing sword manoeuvres, as well as being very fast, however, after the Shadow Side virus infected him, he was avoided and feared widely across Farmersville, for fear of him endangering the lives of those around him. His sentient shadow attempted to stage a takeover of the physical body, after the virus progressed to a stage never seen before, however, his meditative techniques taught by his master allowed him to overcome the Shadow Side and keep it under a certain level of control over the Shadow's influence, however, if he lets that guard down, the consequences could be even more disastrous.

His signature moves involved a dance-like set of attacks that moved so finely, they transixed those who stood before him. La Vega's sword, the Incendium Vita, will burn bright if the vitality of himself or his opponent begins to dwindle down, but it's fire will become a sickening black fire if the Shadow Side takes over him.

Many people have called him "the warrior who stands between death and righteousness", as he will often fight to protect those he loves and/or cares about, but the grasp on the shadow, courtesy of his own mind keeps him a step away from destroying everything he sees

Fun Facts:
Despite his logical thought processes and calmness, he is notorious for being a terrible loser, often blaming his losses on other people, his opponent cheating, or him not being ready.

He once attempted to fight using a claw on his hand, but "it fell off to many times to be useful", so he studied his fencing lore under a master named "Ser Eric Studolf", but he claims that he branched off his own style because he hates fighting with unwieldy weapons.

He is an extremely capable dancer, which, often to the surprise of many people, he will sometimes show it off during battle.

Passive Ability - True Darkness
When Marcello unleashes the Shadow Side, the anger of the imprisoned Shadow releases loose, and during this, no friend or foe is truly safe.

Upon activating Shadow Side, the attack power will increase to 40%, but the chance to attack teammates will increase to 50%.

Polaris Waltz: Power 30 - Physical - Effect (10% chance of Charm). [La Vega's signature move. In Fencing tournaments, it was said to be so entrancing, that it made the ladies in the crowd swoon. Cannot be used if Shadow Side is active]

Ruinous Power: Power 40 - Physical - Effect (10% chance of Fear (Paralysis that lasts a maximum of two turns with standard 50% chance of breakout)). [La Vega's Shadow Side produces the same aura that led people to avoid him. The aura of pure hatred, which I thought best translated into fear. Can only be used if the Shadow Side is activated.

Meditate: Power N/A - Status - Effect (Boosts Attack and Defence by 1 point)

Blaze of Glory: Power 80 - Physical - Effect (25% chance of Burn). [La Vega's sword was renowned for burning when the opponent began to falter, and he would often unleash his most powerful option when finishing the match, ending it in a "Blaze of Glory".]
