mine would have to be:

Bonobo - The North Borders

this album f***' shocked me, to be honest
the last time i listened to bonobo he was just this goofy instrumental hiphop producer that didn't make anything too special and here he goes making a f*** beautiful masterpiece

runners up:
Emancipator - Dusk to Dawn
Foals - Holy Fire

I..

wow. I haven't even listened to a 2013 album yet. s***.

My AOTY 2012 though was Devin Townsend's Epicloud (although only when combined with the bonus disc Epiclouder)

Runners up were:
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Pandora's Pinata
Anathema - Weather Systems
Art by Numbers - Reticence: The Musical

I'm sorry I couldn't be more topical

My 2012 AOTY is definitely Trust - TRST. Was also a fantastic year for metal, but there are just way too many solid albums there for me to decide. I definitely recommend Kentucky by Panopticon if you enjoy black metal and/or lots of tasty banjos.

I've been digging You're Nothing by Iceage and quietly anticipating The Knife's new album, but I haven't heard very many outstanding 2013 releases so far.

I haven't listened to many 2013 albums.

But I'd have to say The 20/20 Experience is my favorite so far.

it's the weakest album

start with soon it will be cold enough and then listen to safe in the steep cliffs
and then dusk to dawn will be that much better to hear

Dusk to Dawn is essentially a combination of Cold Enough and Safe in the Steep Cliffs which makes it all the more complete as a trilogy
